IPO — Initial Public Offering

An IPO is when a private company sells shares to the public for the first time to raise equity capital. After listing, those shares can trade on NSE or BSE. This PaisaTrade calendar shows live, upcoming, closed and recently listed issues with price band, minimum amount and subscription — for learning. After listing, tap Chart to read the live educational stock chart. We do not take IPO applications and this is not a buy or sell call.

GMP (Grey Market Premium) is an unofficial premium some dealers quote before listing — not an NSE/BSE price. Unofficial grey-market snapshot as of 16 Sep 2026. Not NSE/BSE. Not a listing forecast. PaisaTrade does not run a grey market and does not take IPO bids. Learn GMP in the IPO Guide.

How an IPO works in India

  1. 1. DRHP / RHP

The company files a draft and then a red-herring prospectus with SEBI. Read the RHP before you ever bid elsewhere.

  2. 2. Bid window

Retail, NII and QIB categories bid for typically three days via ASBA/UPI through a SEBI-registered broker.

  3. 3. Allotment

The registrar allots shares. Oversubscription cuts retail allotment. Check PAN on the registrar site.

  4. 4. Listing

Shares list on NSE/BSE. Once listed, open the educational stock chart from this page. Listing gain or loss versus the offer price is not a forecast of what happens next.

Learn the process in the IPO Guide, watch cash names on Share Market Today, or practise in paper trading. PaisaTrade never places an IPO bid for you.

IPO in India — FAQs

What is an IPO?+

An Initial Public Offering (IPO) is when a private company offers shares to the public for the first time to raise equity capital. After listing, those shares can trade on NSE or BSE. PaisaTrade explains the calendar — we do not take applications.

What is the difference between a mainboard IPO and an SME IPO?+

Mainboard IPOs list on NSE/BSE with a typical retail minimum near ₹14,000–₹15,000 per lot. SME IPOs list on the SME platform, often with a much larger minimum (often ₹2 lakh+) and lower liquidity after listing. SME issues are usually riskier for beginners.

How long is the IPO bidding window open?+

Most Indian IPOs stay open for three working days. The last day typically closes around 5 pm for ASBA/UPI through a broker. Always confirm on the RHP and your broker — PaisaTrade is not a bidding venue.

How do I check IPO allotment status?+

After the allotment date, check the registrar (KFin, Link Intime, Bigshare, etc.) with PAN, application number or DP/client ID. NSE, BSE, CDSL and NSDL also send SMS/email. Allotment is not guaranteed even in oversubscribed issues.

Can I see the share chart after an IPO lists?+

Yes. Once an issue is listed on NSE or BSE, tap Chart on that row (or on the IPO detail page) to open the educational stock chart. PaisaTrade is not a broker — the quote is slightly delayed and is not a buy or sell call.

What is IPO GMP?+

GMP (Grey Market Premium) is an unofficial premium some dealers quote for an IPO before it lists. It is not an NSE or BSE price, not SEBI-regulated, and not a listing forecast. PaisaTrade shows a dated educational snapshot only — we do not run a grey market and we do not take IPO bids.

Does PaisaTrade let me apply for an IPO?+

No. PaisaTrade is an educational platform only. We show price bands, dates and subscription so you can learn the process. Apply only through your SEBI-registered broker or the registrar. This is not investment advice.
