How to read share market today
Start with the indices. Nifty 50 and Sensex show whether the large-cap tape is up or down on the session. Bank Nifty, Nifty IT and India VIX add context: banks, technology, and implied volatility. A green Nifty with a red Bank Nifty often means the move is not uniform across sectors.
Then scan gainers and losers. A stock up 3% with heavy volume is a different story from a thin name up 3% on little trade. Most-traded names are where attention (and usually liquidity) is concentrated. Stocks near a 52-week high or low are educational flags only — breakouts and capitulation both happen at those levels.
NSE cash hours are typically 9:15 am to 3:30 pm IST on trading days. Outside those hours this page still shows the last available educational snapshot. How are top gainers and losers calculated?+
Gainers are names in our universe with a positive day change, sorted by percentage move. Losers are negative day change, sorted by the steepest fall. Most traded sorts by reported volume. 52-week lists compare last price to each stock’s 52-week high or low.
Do I need to log in to see share market today?+
