How to use a screener well

  1. Start with a question. “Which quality companies are in an uptrend?” is better than scrolling every list.
  2. Read the rule. Each screen page shows the exact condition, so you know what a match does — and does not — mean.
  3. Check the chart. Open a stock to see its candles, key ratios and news before drawing conclusions.
  4. Practise first. Try the idea with virtual money in paper trading and review the result.

Frequently asked questions

What is a stock screener?

A stock screener filters a list of stocks by rules you choose — price, volume, technical indicators or fundamentals — so you can study a short list instead of hundreds of charts. PaisaTrade's screener is free and built for learning.

How often are the screens updated?

Prices and every screen refresh about once a minute during market hours. Moving averages, RSI, Supertrend and breakouts use daily candles plus today's live bar, so intraday results can change until the close.

Which stocks does the screener cover?

It covers the actively traded NSE stocks PaisaTrade tracks — the Nifty 50 and other popular names — and we keep adding more. Each screen shows exactly how many stocks match today.

Can I build my own screen?

Yes. The custom screener lets you combine filters such as sector, market cap, P/E, ROE, RSI, returns and distance from the 52-week high, sort any column and export the result to CSV.

Is a screener result a buy or sell signal?

No. A screen only tells you which stocks match a rule today. PaisaTrade is an educational platform and not a SEBI-registered adviser — use the list to study charts and practise in paper trading.

Covers actively traded NSE stocks that PaisaTrade tracks (Nifty 50 names and other popular stocks), with more being added. Prices are delayed; technicals use daily candles with today's live bar. P/E and market cap refresh with quotes; ROE, debt-to-equity, P/B, margins and quarterly growth are refreshed from company filings data every few days. Educational only — not investment advice.
